For the technology-related RAships, the funding is the RAship and tuition waiver. Extra-funded includes hourly pay as lab workers.
Our new Ph.D. program in Communication, Rhetoric, and Digital Media starts this fall. We may develop programs in which Ph.D. students provide assistance but I can't tell you what the funding scheme will be like at this point.
